“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” -Mike Tyson
Though he’s not know for his articulation, or his philosophical perspective, Iron Mike got this right. I did make a plan, but it isn’t going to break my heart if I have to deviate. In this case, I am wanting to reach my goal. I am sure I will need to adjust to get there. Truly, what good would it do if I had a plan that I excecuted perfectly and still fell short in the end.
My plan right now, is carefully using my time. That in my opinion is the biggest goal buster. Things come up, and you can’t maneuver. Our family has a crazy busy schedule. We also have things come out of no where every day. Understanding and accepting that is going to be key. The acceptance part, is not letting it get to me and throwing up my hands or using it as an excuse to quit. That is thy my goals are more holistic.
My strategy is the following:
- Get up early, try to exercise before the family gets started.
- Don’t eat crap. (This is sodas, sugars and processed food).
- Schedule my meals and eat as close to what I plan and when I plan.
- I am not doing any specific diet trend. Just clean foods, and measured portions.
- Burn as many calories as I can each day, work until I need to stop.
- Live with whatever that day brings.
- Sleep when in bed, don’t scroll your phone, rest is important.
That’s really it, nothing special. I think that goals are good, and for most people that work. But, in this case I don’t want to set a specific pond loss, or numbers in general. I think this is about what is possible, I don’t what to set something too low and use it as an excuse to quit, or make it too hard and at some point accept I can’t reach it and also give up. I know me, and historically, I have done that.
That’s it for the plan, now lets just see if I can avoid getting punched in the mouth.
